Candidate Reference Investigation

References are necessary as these provide the real picture of the behavioral pattern of the candidate. Generally, a person's behavioral patterns change very little over time--good or bad--so a great deal of stock should be placed on the information gathered from references about the potential candidate. We like to then compare these findings with what is presented on the candidate's resume or what we have heard from the candidate during the interview process.

The story about the candidate which emerges from this cross checking process does represent information that is highly reliable and helpful in painting a clear picture, and is often predictive of how the candidate will behave and, ultimately, perform in his/her new job. Moreover, the interviewer must select the questions to be asked during the interview from each candidate, facilitating further the candidate reference investigation.
